The Mi\u015aOT Energy project is entering the implementation phase. Following the signing of an agreement with Ekovoltis, the small and medium-sized telecommunications operator environment is launching the construction of a joint electricity purchasing group. The goal of the initiative is to reduce the operating costs of telecommunications infrastructure by leveraging economies of scale and professional energy procurement optimization.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last Mi\u015aOT Congress in \u0141ochowo brought about decisions that could have a long-term impact on the cost stability of local telecommunications operators. The project Mi\u015aOT Energia officially finalized an agreement with Ekovoltis.<\/a>, creating a foundation for an electricity purchasing group for small and medium-sized ISP operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many digital infrastructure companies, this primarily means the opportunity to reduce one of the most significant operational costs\u2014electricity\u2014at a time when the market remains unstable and energy prices in Europe continue to fluctuate significantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mi\u015aOT Launches Joint Energy Procurement Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the telecommunications sector, electricity is not merely an administrative cost. It is one of the key elements of the operational cost structure. Server rooms, network nodes, base stations, cooling systems, and transmission equipment operate non-stop, often 24\/7, generating a constant demand for energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For large operators, the ability to negotiate purchase terms stems from the vast scale of their operations. The situation is different for local ISPs. A single operator, even one growing dynamically, rarely has an energy consumption volume that allows them to obtain terms comparable to offers for the largest businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mi\u015aOT Energia project was created precisely to eliminate this asymmetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A common purchasing group for operators associated within the Mi\u015aOT environment allows for achieving economies of scale that were previously beyond the reach of individual companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did Ekovoltis become a project partner<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Partnership with a company Ekovoltis<\/strong> It is not a classic seller-customer relationship. In practice, it means creating a purchasing model specifically designed for the telecommunications industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowledge of the specifics of the local operators' environment played a key role here. Mi\u015aOT Energia's development is the responsibility of, among others. Piotr Baran<\/strong>, project leader who himself operated a business for nearly two decades. His experience allowed him to identify the real needs of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Piotr Baran emphasizes: Understanding the local telecommunications entrepreneur environment, we have made an effort to offer them proven solutions related to energy procurement optimization.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, a cooperation model was created where:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • negotiations are conducted on behalf of the entire Mi\u015aOT community,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The offer takes into account the energy consumption profile characteristic of telecommunications infrastructure,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Each operator maintains an individual business relationship and the ability to make their own decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The Mi\u015aOT Energy project is not just about selling energy. Together with the operators, we have created a joint procurement model that allows us to combine the consumption volumes of many companies and conduct negotiations at a level previously available mainly to the largest customers. Ekovoltis's role is to ensure a transparent procurement process and analytical support that helps operators better manage energy costs.<\/em> \u2013 conveyed Grzegorz Bruski<\/strong>, Vice President of Ekovoltis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The scale effect should lower energy prices for ISPs.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    From the perspective of a telecommunications entrepreneur, economics is, of course, the most important factor. A joint purchasing platform allows for benefits that were previously available primarily to the largest energy consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Preferential energy rates<\/strong>
    <\/strong>Thanks to the accumulated consumption volume of the entire group, it was possible to negotiate price conditions comparable to offers for large corporations. In many cases, this means a real reduction in energy purchase costs compared to standard market offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Energy audit as part of cooperation<\/strong>
    <\/strong>Operators will receive support in analyzing past invoices and distribution parameters. In practice, this means identifying areas where further cost optimization is possible, for example, by changing tariffs or adjusting contractual parameters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Offer transparency<\/strong>
    <\/strong>One of the project's assumptions was to eliminate unclear pricing mechanisms and hidden costs. The partnership with Ekovoltis is intended to ensure transparent cooperation terms and an understandable offer structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Invoice Analysis and Energy Cost Optimization<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The development of the Mi\u015aOT Energia project fits into the broader context of changes in the energy market. Following sharp price increases in 2022-2023, entrepreneurs began to analyze their energy cost structures much more carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As Piotr Baran points out, for small businesses, energy prices for business tariffs often fall within the range of PLN 698\u2013785 per MWh, although significantly higher offers also occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    At the same time, the market remains volatile. According to many analyses, the cost of electricity for businesses may increase by an average of 5 to 14 percent annually in the long term, depending on the macroeconomic situation and the energy generation structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As Piotr Baran emphasizes: Our goal is not just to sell energy. We want to help operators understand their energy cost structure and leverage the economies of scale of the Mi\u015aOT environment to negotiate terms previously available mainly to the largest companies.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For telecommunications operators, this means the need for long-term energy cost planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The project is entering the operational phase.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Mi\u015aOT Energy project is transitioning from the conceptual phase to the operational stage. A dedicated information campaign for operators will begin in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Ekovoltis Call Center consultants will contact representatives of companies associated with the Mi\u015aOT ecosystem by phone to present specific calculations regarding possible savings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The project organizers emphasize that this is not a standard sales campaign, but the implementation of agreements made during the \u0141och\u00f3w convention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To facilitate quick calculations, operators are requested to prepare the latest electricity bill. Based on it, the consultant will be able to present a comparison of current costs with the purchasing group's offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Although the initiative's primary goal is to reduce energy costs for operators, the Mi\u015aOT Energy project also has a broader dimension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    One of its elements is the construction of a knowledge base on the energy needs of the ISP sector. Data on energy consumption, infrastructure profile, or contracting methods can become the basis for further initiatives in the future, both purchasing and technological.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In the long term, a scenario is also being considered where some operators could develop activities in the area of buying and selling electricity to end customers. This would be another element of revenue diversification in the telecommunications industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Towards more predictable costs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Mi\u015aOT Energy project shows that the local operator environment is increasingly using the sector cooperation model to solve common business problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In an industry where energy bills can make or break the profitability of infrastructure investments, every opportunity for cost optimization is of strategic importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Thanks to the partnership with Ekovoltis, operators gain a tool that allows them to reduce operational costs while maintaining full business independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For many of them, this could mean a simple change in perspective: less time spent analyzing energy bills and more time developing fiber optic infrastructure, which remains the foundation of the digital economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
